Student Exhibition, Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh

Notes

This length of unravelling rope was found in a dumpster (or 'skip') in Edinburgh, and the sculpture developed from the simple process of coiling the rope with metallic gold thread. Though laborious and time-consuming, the transformation of the rope was instantaneous - a lo-fi alchemy - increasing with every pass.

Untitled (Gold Rope) was included in the group show On the Way to the Peak of Normal: A Crack in the Cosmic Egg at The Embassy as well as the Royal Scottish Academy Student Exhibition, both in Edinburgh, 2005.
